You can’t just use any glass for your conservatory roof – because it has a very special job to do!
At Admiral Home Improvements, we have selected the market-leading Conservaglass range for glazed roofs. It has superb products to suit the needs of every site.
What’s more, it’s double glazed, toughened safety glass with warm edge spacer bars as standard.
Manufactured in a specialist factory, it has a 10 year guarantee.
This advanced range has a number of options for further enhanced thermal and UV reduction performance.
It has a transparent coating which harnesses the power of ultra-violet rays from the sun and rain (or water), encouraging a chemical reaction which physically breaks down and washes away dirt.
This means that your conservatory roof generally needs less maintenance, it will stay brighter and cleaner… and for longer than conventional glass too!
Tinted glass is often used in conservatory roofs, but is ultimately down to personal choice. Some colours have a positive impact on issues such as solar and UV rejection and impact on light transmission.
Typically tinted coating colours are bronze, aqua, blue or neutral (which can have a slightly grey appearance).
Lightweight roofs with market-leading, high performance glazing
A conservatory that is warm in winter and cool in summer. A sun room where sun glare isn’t an issue and direct sunlight doesn’t bleach that beautiful rug or leave fade marks on the sofa. A glazed roof or roof lantern where it cleans itself.
Innovations in glass manufacturing and glazed unit framing technologies have transformed what is possible in recent years, so why not reap the benefits?
Enjoy a better quality of light, lower heating bills, extended or year-round use of your conservatory space and a glazed conservatory roof that will see a longer life, adding value to your home.
Our ranges of ‘Conservaglass’ for glazed roofs is guaranteed for 10 years. It is toughened, double glazed safety glass with warm edge spacer bars as standard with a number of options for further enhanced thermal and UV reduction performance.
Many of the advanced options for glazing in conservatory roofs are also available for side frame and patio, French and bi-fold door glazing too.
The invisible, metallic, low emissivity coating in thermally efficient glass harvests free energy from natural daylight and allows it to pass through the glass to warm the home.
The coating simultaneously reflects heat generated in the home back into the room, rather than allowing it to escape through the windows.
The U Value measures how good the material is at preventing heat loss to the outside. The lower the U value (typically 1 to 1.2 W/m2), the warmer the room will be in winter.
Glass units transmit heat from the sun. Its G value (measured in percentages) indicates how well it does this. The lower the percentage, the less sunlight is let through and the lower the glare.
A 40% G Value means that 60% of the sun’s heat is reflected back, reducing heat build-up in summer months. If you have a south-facing site, being able to reflect or ‘reject’ will be more important than for a north-facing or shaded site.
Ultraviolet light can have an adverse effect on the furniture and fabrics within your home, but in a conservatory it is difficult for furniture not to be ‘in full sun’.
Specially formulated glazing can reduce UV levels. Its effectiveness is measured in percentages – the higher the percentage, the lower the possibility of furniture and fabrics fading.
Reducing the risk of cold spots around the edges of glazing
Even a double glazed unit with the most thermally efficient glass can be prone to cold spots. A warm edge spacer bar between the two panes in a double glazed unit serves to keep the temperatures inside at the edge both warm in winter and cool in summer.
The innovative spacer is up to 950 times less conductive than aluminium. Use of this technology can increase internal temperatures and significantly help prevent the risk of condensation.
Featuring advanced properties for noise reduction
External sounds which disturb the peace and quiet of your home can be reduced by your choice of glazing and there are several options.
The thickness alone of glass can improve sound reduction by blocking out low frequency sounds such as the rumble of road traffic or railway noise, but high performance acoustic laminated glass with its special interlayer can particularly reduce high frequency noise such as aircraft noise or road noise from town.
For glazed conservatory roofs, our ranges of ‘Conservaglass’ include varieties with advanced high performance properties for noise reduction.
The best soundproofing option for windows throughout your home is secondary double glazing.
